Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Fackle ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Fackle Mail apps for Android and iOS (the "App"). It applies only to the App. Your use of the broader Fackle platform and website is governed by the main Fackle Privacy Policy.
Fackle Mail is an email client for your Fackle account. The App's purpose is to let you read, send, organize, and manage email and contacts.
Information We Collect
Account information:
- Your Fackle username and the password you enter to sign in. Your password is used only to authenticate to our mail servers and is not stored by the App in readable form.
Email content and metadata:
- The content of your email messages, including subjects, body text, sender and recipient addresses, dates, and attachments, as needed to display and send your mail.
Contacts:
- The contacts you save in the App (name and email address).
Attachments and files:
- Files you choose to attach to messages, which you select through your device's system file picker. The App accesses only the files you explicitly choose.
Device and technical information:
- A device push-notification token (see "Push Notifications" below).
- Basic technical information necessary to connect to our servers and diagnose problems.
How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you and connect to your Fackle mailbox.
- To display, send, organize, search, and manage your email and contacts.
- To deliver new-mail notifications to your device.
- To filter spam and show related indicators.
- To maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the App.
We do not read the content of your emails, and we do not use your email content for advertising. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for commercial purposes.
Sender Photos and Remote Images
To show sender photos and images in messages, the App may, depending on your settings:
- Look up sender profile photos. This can include sending a hashed form of a sender's email address to Gravatar (operated by Automattic) and requesting brand logos (BIMI) based on a sender's domain.
- Load remote images contained in messages. When enabled, remote images are routed through our own server rather than loaded directly, which hides your device's IP address from the image's host.
You can turn sender photos and remote-image loading on or off at any time in the App's Settings.
Push Notifications
If you enable notifications, the App registers a push token with a push notification service — Firebase Cloud Messaging (provided by Google) on Android, and the Apple Push Notification service on iOS — so we can notify your device when new mail arrives. You can disable push notifications in the App's Settings or in your device settings; doing so removes the token from our records.
Data Storage and Security
- The App stores a local, encrypted copy of recent messages and folders on your device so you can read mail offline. This cache is removed when you sign out.
- Communication between the App and our servers is encrypted in transit.
- No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your password confidential.
Data Retention and Deletion
- Your email and account data are retained on our servers for as long as your account is active.
- You can delete your account at any time from the App's Settings, or from our web page at https://www.fackle.com/apps/facklemail/delete-account. Deleting your account permanently removes your entire Fackle account, including your email, mailbox, saved contacts, and all other data associated with your Fackle account across Fackle's services. This cannot be undone. Some information may be retained where required by law. If you only want to stop using the Fackle Mail app, you can sign out instead.
Geographic Scope
The App is intended for residents of the United States, excluding California. We do not intentionally collect information from residents of the European Union or California, and the App is not designed to comply with GDPR or CCPA requirements.
Children
The App is not directed to anyone under 18, and you must be at least 18 to use it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy with a new "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
